IN HER OWN WORDS…
MY Y FACTORS: “They all resonate but my favourites would be Adventure & The Unexpected - I am always up for a challenge and love visiting new places and trying new things”
Y WISDOM: “I always head out for an early morning run on my first day to get lost and eventually get your bearings – a great way to see a city!
Also, get your travel advisor to book a private tour guide to visit all the must-see places – you will avoid the queues and always a great way to experience a city through a local’s eyes.”
Y WISHLIST: “I want to see & experience it all!! I have a list a mile long - a safari in Africa, Portugal, The Baltics to see the Northern Lights, Sicily & Sardinia & sailing around Croatia .. to name a few!”
Sally Cornell's passion for travel ignited at 21 during a transformative backpacking adventure through Europe and America. What began as youthful wanderlust evolved into a lifelong devotion to exploration, shaping both her personal journey and professional expertise in the travel industry.
Sally's itchy feet eventually led her to back to London where she launched her travel career at an agency specialising in New Zealand and Australia. A ski season in Vail, Colorado, sparked her love of skiing and alpine adventures, eventually drawing her to 15 extraordinary years in Hong Kong - a period that defined her approach to immersive travel experiences.
Hong Kong became Sally's playground for Asian exploration - and keeping fit! Weekend junk trips to Sai Kung's pristine white beaches, hiking the territory's dramatic hills, and her endless quest for the perfect dim sum and Peking duck became the foundation of her philosophy: travel should engage all the senses. Her Asian adventures expanded across the region - running a half marathon through Angkor Wat's ancient temples, conquering the Great Wall of China, completing her first marathon in Macau, and skiing Niseko's powder before it gained international acclaim.
Italy continues to captivate Sally, with Rome ranking amongst her top five favourite cities for its mastery of "the art of living." Meanwhile, Provence holds equal allure, with its bustling markets, leisurely Provençal lunches, endless blue skies and that magical afternoon light representing her vision of travel perfection.
At Y Travel, Sally's organised, detail-oriented approach and passion for premium experiences shine through her bespoke itineraries. Drawing on years of global exploration and overseas living, she crafts journeys that transcend typical tourist trails, offering immersive cultural deep-dives, beach escapes, and alpine adventures.
For Sally, travel embodies her personal motto: "We travel not to escape life, but for life not to escape us."
